BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management will help you to take that next step in your career.

Whether it be to upskill your existing role or by providing you with a valuable qualification that could be utilised in a range of new employment opportunities.

The qualification reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level are likley to provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They may also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team. They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

Who Should Attend?

Individuals who are aspiring to be managers, supervisors or team leaders in small to large organisations and the public sector.

Subsidised Training Available

Strategic Corporate Training is an approved Smart and Skilled provider for Certificate IV in Leadership and Management where the fees are subsidised by the NSW Government, which significantly reduces the cost of achieving this qualification.  See below for more information on Smart and Skilled.

Fee-Free Training - Skilling for Recovery

The Skilling for Recovery Initiative is part of a funding commitment of almost $320 million between the NSW and Australian governments under the JobTrainer Fund. Skilling for Recovery is a key component of the State’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan.

Under this initiative, you may be eligible for FEE-FREE nationally accredited training if you meet the eligibility criteria. See below for more information on Skilling for Recovery.

Certificate IV in Leadership and Management qualification requires the completion of 12 units of competency, being five core and seven elective units. 

Core units: 

  • BSBLDR411 Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
  • BSBLDR413 Lead effective workplace relationships
  • BSBOPS402 Coordinate business operational plans
  • BSBXCM401 Apply communication strategies in the workplace
  • BSBXTW401 Lead and facilitate a team

Elective units:

Elective units for this course will be determined in consultation with the student prior to enrolment.

Recognition

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer for units within this qualification are available to all students. Please contact our Training Admin Team for more information on the RPL pathway and Credit Transfer processes.

Assessment

Assessment is based on competency, which is the ability to demonstrate specific skills.

A range of assessment methods will be utilised to assess competence in each unit within the course including group activities, projects, written questions, presentation, observation etc.

Strategic Corporate Training's Certificate IV in Leadership and Management course is delivered as a blended delivery program which includes classroom training followed by self directed learning by the student. 

Courses are conducted regularly at our facility in Thornton NSW which is easily accessible for individuals from the Hunter Valley, Maitland, Newcastle Region, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Port Stephens and Mid-North Coast areas.

This course is a blended delivery program involving a delivery phase followed by self directed learning. Training is delivered by our industry expert trainers who provide high impact learning for all students. Students are fully supported throughout their studies by their trainer and student support staff.

The delivery phase involves interactive classroom training encompassing all elements of the competencies within the qualification. Some assessment tasks are completed during the classroom training. This phase is followed by independent studies where students consolidate their understanding and complete the remaining assessment tasks. 

Students need to bring a laptop computer to classroom training that has Microsoft Office 97 or later (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader. A computer with these specifications and internet access is required during self directed learning at home/work.

On completion of the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management course, students will have:

  • Learned new skills in leading and managing a team in a range of environments and changing priorities
  • Gained practical experience in leadership and management as well as planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and that of others
  • Developed strong interpersonal and communication skills, and confidence in building successful workplace relationships and guiding individuals/teams to meet their goals

Strategic Corporate Training is an approved provider under the Smart and Skilled program for subsidised training for Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. 

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

Under the Smart and Skilled funding, we can offer NSW residents (including employer sponsored students working in NSW) access to subsidised training which significantly reduces the cost of achieving a qualification.

A student's eligibility is not affected if they have previously completed a vocational education and training qualification.

Skilling for Recovery Eligibility

To be eligible for fee-free training in Certificate IV in Leadership and Management under the NSW Government's Skilling for Recovery Initiative, you need to meet the following Smart and Skilled criteria:

  • 15 years old and over and

  • No longer at school and

  • Live OR work in NSW and

  • Australian OR New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident OR a Humanitarian Visa Holder (International Students are not eligible).

PLUS meet ONE of the following categories:

  1. Youth 17-24 (regardless of employment status)

  2. Commonwealth Benefit Recipient

  3. Dependant of Commonwealth Benefit Recipient

  4. Unemployed (not a Commonwealth Benefit Recipient)

  5. People expected to become unemployed (one of the following four categories):

  • Stood down/furloughed employee: Employee that has been stood down or employee who previously would have been on JobKeeper and is at risk of becoming unemployed and requires upskilling or reskilling for new role and employment elsewhere.

  • Person starting a job (employed for 6 months or less): Employed on condition of receiving training to build capacity and capability for the job role. This would be within the first 6 months of employment

  • Low skilled/unskilled employee: Existing employee, with or without relevant skills or previous qualification up to Certificate III, that requires training to upskill to secure ongoing employment or future employment

  • Workers in declining industries: Workers at any company in an agreed declining industry (e.g. international travel industry) who require upskilling/reskilling for redeployment.
